After the detonation of the 50 megaton bomb, the Tsar, the world collectively agreed never to detonate nuclear bombs on earth, underwater or in space again. The Tsar was supposed to be a 100 megaton bomb but was downgraded to 50 megaton! The detonation of the Tsar occurred Oct 30, 1961. This was the largest nuclear device ever detonated on earth.
