On June 3, 2010 the Hayabusa completed its journey of 1.25 billion mile journey to the comet Itokawa with a fiery plunge into the Earth's atmosphere high above the Australian outback. The video shows the breakup of the Hayabusa spacecraft on the left side of the picture, with the sample return cannister (small, steady pinpoint of light) flying ahead of the main body.
