Mercury Corrodes Aluminum
This timelapse (2 hours in real time) shows the destructive force of a small amount of mercury amalgamating itself into an aluminum I-beam.

Gallium was scratched into the surface of the aluminum to allow the mercury to penetrate the protective oxide layer that normally forms where oxygen contacts aluminum.

The reaction creates a powdery oxide, but the angle of the camera does not allow you to see the significant pile of it building up underneath.
