I went from Windows 3.1 to 95 to XP.
I am now thinking about Linux.

This is a history of pain.

I have also been (gradually) migrating to Linux.

I try not to be a Microsoft-basher, but they rather invite bashing. As a company they have been heavy-handed, and exploitive of consumers. Their greed has gained them a ton of money, and a lot of well-deserved enemies.

Here is the one that really gets me: if you were a national Government, would you use -- for internal use and sometimes even military -- an operating system that was proprietary? The actual code and contents of which are secret, even from you, the Government?

You would have to be insane to do that.

Which is yet another reason that I believe the U.S. Government has, in fact, gone insane. Just one of many such reasons.
