The Tibetan spiritual leader quoted Chinese experts as saying that the Tibetan glaciers were retreating faster than any elsewhere in the world. The Himalayan glaciers are considered vital lifelines for Asian rivers, including the Indus and the Ganges.

Every time I turn around I hear about glaciers retreating. This is scary since less than 3% of the water on Earth is freshwater. Freshwater is, after all, what sustains life.
